Ascendance is a real-time strategy game in which the player takes control of a civilisation taking its first steps into expanding into space. It features a massive game world, a deep simulation of civilisations, and real-time space battles.

A LIVING GALAXY

The depth of civilisations offer a rich and dynamic experience, allowing players to navigate the complex web of interconnected systems that make up civilisations. Government departments, militaries, space agencies, private corporations, colonies, populations, and characters all help bring civilisations to life in a unique and immersive experience.

DEEP ECONOMY

Civilisation economies are made up of many colonies and mines, each producing and consuming goods with their own industries and populations. Colonies will import what they need and export what they can, with all trade being physically shipped around. Each population has their own wealth, health, education, employment, and housing, and can thrive or vanish depending on whether their needs are met. Shipyards require various goods, and ships require fuel, ammo, and crew supplies.

INTERNAL POLITICS

A somewhat unique element of the game is the emphasis on internal politics and stability. The player is responsible for every action and policy they make, at the risk of upsetting political parties, the population, influential characters, or business interests. The player will also have to manage the level of control they have over their territory, as distant colonies may prefer autonomy or even independence.

SHIP COMBAT

Ship combat is physically-based, with weapons using predictive aiming, each projectile being simulated, and location-based damage. Some weapons require ammunition to function, and ship systems can be damaged to reduce or stop the ship from functioning.

MASSIVE SCALE

Ascendance brings a grand sense of scale to the strategy genre. Galaxies can contain tens of thousands of large, detailed star systems, with dozens of planets and moons. Moons dwarf ships, planets dwarf moons, all on a seamless map that allows zooming from a single ship to a view of the galaxy.

MANY WAYS TO PLAY

Scenarios, game settings, planned modding support will all serve to allow the player to customise and play the game the way they want. Set up a galaxy teeming with advanced civilisations or play within a single star system without faster-than-light travel. Truly develop tall as planets and systems have no limitation. Start united or as fractured civilisation with multiple nations. Play in an entire galaxy or a small area of space. It’s up to you!

ACCESSIBILITY

The game will be deep but is aimed to be as accessible as possible, with great attention paid to making mechanics intuitive, and presenting a clean UI for the player.
